Eric Clapton forced to nix NYC concert

Eric Clapton has pulled out of this week’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert in New York after undergoing gallstone surgery.

Kristen Foster, a publicist for the guitarist, said Tuesday that Clapton was doing well and recuperating with his family in England.

The hall says Jeff Beck will replace the 64-year-old guitarist for Friday night’s show at Madison Square Garden.

Clapton was to perform as part of a two-night celebration in honor of the hall’s 25th anniversary. Beck now joins U2, Aretha Franklin and Metallica for the final night.

The Thursday lineup includes Crosby, Stills and Nash; Stevie Wonder; and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. HBO will air the concerts Nov. 29.

Clapton’s Web site says he remains committed to his 2010 concert schedule.

Rihanna’s New Album - ‘Rated R’

After much speculation, Def Jam Records announced today (Oct. 20) that Rihanna will be releasing her fourth studio album, “Rated R,” on Nov. 23. “Russian Roulette,” the first single, will premiere today at 11:23 a.m. EST on Rihanna’s official website, rihannanow.com, while an accompanying video, directed by Anthony Mandler, will debut on ABC.

“Russian Roulette” was written and produced by labelmate Ne-Yo (”Take A Bow,” “Hate That I Love You”). The-Dream, Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, Chase & Status and Justin Timberlake are among the other collaborators and producers who appear on “Rated R.”

“Rated R” is the follow-up to 2007’s “Good Girl Gone Bad,” which spawned the hit single “Umbrella,” among others, and the first official release from Rihanna since the February altercation with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. The album has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Michael Buble talks about new CD:

Michael Buble recently received a cassette tape of his first performance ever, but it didn’t bring back pleasant memories.

“I was absolutely terrible. I didn’t know how to get in and out of the song,” the 34-year-old said embarrassingly of a performance when he was 16. “At that point I didn’t understand the form of a song. So wrong, so terrible.”

But even though he went through an awkward stage as a performer, he was convinced that singing was in his future.

His faith paid off. His first three CDs have gone gold, platinum and triple-platinum, and his newest one, “Crazy Love,” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart last week.

Buble knows where he’d like the rest of his career to head.

“I’ve said it a million times: I would love very much to be known as one of the great entertainers. If that’s me having a big ego, then sorry. I’mshooting for the stars and if I miss I’ll hit the moon and that’s pretty high,” he said.

Carnie Wilson’s Reality Series:

Carnie Wilson is opening up her life as a working mom in a new reality TV series.

“Carnie Wilson: Unstapled” is in production and set to debut in January on GSN, which also airs “The Newlywed Game,” hosted by Wilson.

The 41-year-old singer-songwriter says she’s comfortable being candid. Her 1999 obesity surgery was shown online.

Wilson says her father, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, may make an appearance on the reality show if his schedule permits.
