More is being discoverd from the plane crash in September. Travis Barker and DJ AM’s private jet crashed in Columbia, South Carolina shortly after take off that sadly killed four of the musicians close friends and badly burned Barker and Goldstein.

On newley released cockpit recordings, the pilot reported the plane “going off the end” of the runway. Aviation authorities say the cockpit recordings reveal the jet’s crew believed a tire blew before takeoff, but the recordings could not confirm that. Apparently they pilots tried to stop the plane from taking off and ran out of runway. The plane was already traveling 156 mph and some experts say the pilots should have lifted off the runway instead of trying to stop. Tire debris was found about 2,800 ft from where the plane initially started takeoff down the 8,600 ft runway.

Barker and Goldstein performed at a free concert in Columbia, SC earlier that night of the crash on September 19.

There may perhaps be a new genre of music, RjDj. Wait… what? What is RjDj? RjDj is an application for iPhone and iPod Touch that utilizes the sounds that surround you and your movement as well. The devices have a built-in mic and a sensor. The app transforms the surrounding sounds into music though various “scenes” (songs).

RjDj is essentially a “reactive” music genre. It enables listeners to hear sounds which are produced by their digital devices in real time. Reactive music composers utilize sensory input, which makes the environment of the listener the music itself. Compositions are called “scenes” which provides a much different musical structure than traditional music compositions and regularly do not define a clear beginning or end. This helps create an active listener involvement.

Users of RjDj summarize their experiences with this new type of music as addictive and also compare the listening experience to the effects achieved from drugs. RjDj can be considered a digital drug which causes mind twisting hearing sensations which affect the listeners sensory perception.
